Maastricht’s authentic atmosphere comes to life at Vrijthof, the city’s most prominent square. Vrijthof is particularly known for the important historic buildings and quaint restaurants lining its perimeter.
Grab a coffee, tea, or another drink at one of Vrijthof’s many sidewalk cafes and admire the views that surround you. Afterwards, go for a stroll through the cobblestone streets and visit some of the churches and museums facing the square.
The main highlights at Vrijthof include the Basilica of Saint Servatius and the Theater aan het Vrijthof. The square is also the regular backdrop for many of Maastricht’s public events and concerts.
