Kurzporträt Giethoorn

Giethoorn, also known as the ‘Venice of the Netherlands’ is a tranquil village only possible to visit by boats, bikes or on foot! This one-of-a-kind village is located in the province of Overijssel at the center of a canal system that’s made up of 90km canal routes to explore. The village is a collection of small peat islands where beautiful thatched farmhouses now lay and are inhabited by just 2,600 residents. There are over 180 small wooden bridges that connect the areas which are charming to pass under by boat or walk over on foot. With absolutely no roads, get ready to immerse yourselves in the waterside tranquility and simpler way of life.

From basic to more luxury - think Fiat or Ferrari but with boats, the choice is yours. You can also rent canoes or sup boards for a more adventurous experience.

2. Sit back and relax on a canal cruise or explore by foot!
