Built just a few meters from the sacred rock itself, the Acropolis Museum showcases ancient Greek civilisation at its best. The museum’s exterior is as impressive as the wealth of exhibits inside. Upon entering, glass floors reveal an ancient archaeological excavation site. Continue your journey and discover elegant Caryatids, friezes that paint vivid scenes of Athenian life, and a head statue of Alexander the Great. A top sight is the Parthenon Gallery where grand marble sculptures stand against a backdrop of panoramic views of the ancient Acropolis and modern-day Athens. During evening visits, the statues shine in the sunset’s glow. After exploring, the terrace cafe invites you to savour Greek flavours overlooking the Acropolis and the gift shop on the first floor is where you can pick up some souvenirs.
